Visit from June Primmer Mon. 26th November 2007

My cousin June (nee Smith) and Jim Primmer called in to see me at Gosford on Monday 26th November 2007. They were on their way home after an extended around Australia trip.

We chatted over lunch and caught up with all the news of their trip. They have certainly seen some great parts of Australia.

June could not attend the reunion as they were in Perth at the time.

I showed June the photos from the reunion & she wished that it had have been possible for her to be there.

Moree High School 50th Reunion Poem

UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN

Let's wind the clock back 50 years
To lots of laughs and many tears
From broken hearts that found a way to mend
Manuel would say "two shillings please"
For an orange freeze and pie'n'peas
And no one thought those days would ever end.

TB injections weren't much fun
Nor recess milk left in the sun
Cream buns from Mrs Bryant were the go
Then the bell would ring and back to class
Where girls excelled in mothercraft
Two lessons taught us all we had to know.

School socials they were really tops,
Mr Kester sprinkled "Pops"
In the Science Room - the venue for "romancing".
Rope petticoats, the straightest seams,
Lipsticks, stockings, lover's dreams
But the Barn Dance? Well it was hardly Dirty Dancing.

Our teachers gave us much to learn,
"Bunkum" Young and "Justice" Byrne,
Remember Byrnes's middle name was Mary.
He really was a Catholic hater
But the school's chief Pain Administrator
Was Bill Baldwin and that name's still pretty scary.

Andy Watson walked the walk
He swung the cane and chucked the chalk.
If a boy played up in class he was a goner.
Andy drove an Essex Super 6,
Young Judith fell for all his tricks
While Pam Hefran, well, she fell for Dick O'Connor.

So tonight's a night for celebration
Forget cathead initiations,
There's no TB injections or the cane,
Just memories that last forever,
So laugh and sing and cry together,
Make the most of it until we meet again.
